Victoria Atkin played the first character to experience gender dysphoria on the soap.
Initially introduced as a tom boy, Jasmine transitioned into Jason shortly after joining the soap in 2010.

Storylines saw Jason lose his mum Heidi to serial killer Silas Blissett and fall for bad boy Bart McQueen.
After leaving the show in 2011, actress Victoria has continued to act and recently voiced the character of Evie Frye in Assassin's Creed Syndicate.
She also released a novel - titled London Love - in 2015.

Michaela knew how to stir the pot
Hollie-Jay Bowes played Michaela, the youngest member of the McQueen clan.
The mischievous teen was usually up to no good and often brought trouble to her family's door after she first appeared in 2006.

Hollie-Jay was axed from the soap in 2010 before making a brief return in 2011.
Since leaving again in 2012, Holly has continued to work in the entertainment industry and narrates the documentary series Supersize Me.

Sonny Flood played wannabe rocker Josh when he joined the cast in 2005.
The little brother of Rhys and Hannah Ashworth, storylines saw him date teen mum Amy Barnes while trying to become a musician.

Josh left the soap after he was spiked and crashed a car full of his friends in 2010.
After leaving the show Sonny focused all his efforts on his education.
The actor earned a law degree from the University of Manchester and now works as a paralegal.
Carley Stenson - Steph DeanProducer Bryan Kirkwood still sings her praises
Carley Stenson played one of the show's original teens when she joined the cast in 2000.
Thanks to her bubbly attitude, she quickly won over the hearts of viewers.
Storylines saw her aspire to become an actress and marry Max Cunningham just hours before he died in a car accident.

In 2010, the character of Steph was written out after battling cervical cancer.
Since leaving the show Carley has featured in a number of musicals, including Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Last year executive producer Bryan Kirkwood praised Carley and said that if he could resurrect any Hollyoaks character it would be Steph.

The actress now stars on Game of Thrones
Nathalie Emmanuel began playing school girl Sasha in 2006.
Originally portrayed as sweet and wholesome, her character took a drastic turn as the show went on.
Sasha's biggest storylines saw her become addicted to heroine and start dating drug dealer Warren Fox.

Eventually the character left the soap after discovering brother Calvin had left Warren to die in 2011.
Nathalie's star has been shining brighter than ever since leaving Hollyoaks.
Not only does she play Missandei in Game of Thrones, but she also featured in Furious 7 in 2015.
Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries - Max and O.B.Who could forget these two?
They don't make double acts like Max and O.B. anymore.
The BFFs - played Matt Littler and Darren Jeffries - became staples of the show when they joined as teens in 1996 and 1997 respectively.

While Max met a grisly end on his wedding day in 2008, O.B. had a much nicer exit just months later when he left the village to live in London.

Chris Fountain became an overnight heartthrob when he was cast as Justin in 2003.
Like many in his age bracket, his original storylines focused on him settling in to Hollyoaks High.
However the character took on a more adult-oriented role when he began sleeping with teacher Becca Hayton.
Justin left the soap after a rocky relationship with Hannah Ashworth - played by Emma Rigby - in 2009.
Chris would later play Tommy Duckworth in Coronation Street before a controversial rap got him the sack in 2013.
