Hollyoaks' series producer Iain MacLeod is saying goodbye to the Liverpool soap as he moves to Emmerdale.
He will take the helm at the ITV soap at the end of the year and initially will inherit a raft of storylines courtesy of outgoing producer Kate Oates.
Kate will join Coronation Street in the New Year, replacing Corrie’s current producer Stuart Blackburn.
Former journalist Iain, who has held the role at Hollyoaks since 2013, said: “Taking the reins of a programme in such rude health is both highly exciting and a mouth-watering challenge, and I could not be more delighted to be tasked with taking Emmerdale forward.
“To work on a show with such pedigree, such brilliant characters and storytelling, and with such a talented team already in place is a dream for anyone in my line of work and I can’t wait to get cracking.”
Hollyoaks currently has three series producers - Iain, Emily Gascoyne and Di Burrows, who work alongside executive producer, Bryan Kirkwood.
A possible replacement is yet to be announced.
