From a pint in The Dog in the Pond to starring opposite Russell Crowe, some of those Hollyoaks stars have come a long way from Chester.

While the show with officially the biggest cast turnover in soapland (you've done well if you've made it six months without being pushed off The Loft fire escape) churns out its fair share of FHM cover stars there are a handful who have made it big. Check out where your favourites are now.

Barry Sloane (Niall Rafferty 2007-2008)

Remember Myra McQueen's illegitimate son Niall? After kidnapping his siblings and killing off Tina, the much-friendlier-in-real-life Scouser has made it big Stateside. He can currently be seen starring opposite Russell Crowe and Emma Watson in Darren Aronofsky's new big screen epic Noah. US telly fans will also recognise him from his recurring role in the completely bonkers but brilliant Revenge. The boy done good.

Roxanne McKee (Louise Summers 2005-2008)

Being killed by your fiance on your wedding day has never been so good. After being bumped off by Warren, the Sexiest Soap Star champ (this was pre Michelle Keegan) seemed destined for life as a lads mag favourite. But Roxanne proved everyone wrong by landing a part on HBO mega hit Game Of Thrones (she played Doreah in the first season) while also starring opposite the hunky Kellan Lutz in this year's The Legend of Hercules.

Warren Brown (Andy Holt 2005-2006)

Warren played date rape villain Andy for a year but after terrorising Chester he turned to the good side. He's now best known for playing Idris Elba's sidekick Ds Ripley in the acclaimed Luther but has also popped up in major movies like The Dark Knight Rises.

Emma Rigby (Hannah Ashworth 2005-2010)

Sweet as pie Hannah was a Hollyoaks favourite during her five year stint on the soap. Dealing with hard-hitting storylines like a severe eating disorder and her troubled relationship with Justin led to multiple awards for the young actress. As well as Brit telly shows like Prisoners Wives and Becoming Human, Emma has made it in Hollywood too with bit roles in major movies like last year's The Counselor (alongside the likes of Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz) and The Physician opposite Stellan SkarsgÄrd, Sir Ben Kingsley and Olivier Martinez. She's also currently playing The Red Queen in US TV hit Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.

Nathalie Emmanuel (Sasha Valentine 2006-2010)

Just like Roxanne, Nathalie is another Chester to Westeros graduate. Drugs, prostitution and binge drinking was Sasha's life in Hollyoaks village but since leaving the soap four years ago, Nathalie has found critical acclaim as liberated slave Missandei in GoT. Oh and she's currently shooting Fast & Furious 7 with Vin Diesel and co.

Gerard McCarthy (Kris Fisher 2006-2010)

Cross-dressing Kris is one of the most memorable residents of Hollyoaks, in fact he was only initially cast for 12 episodes but was such a fan favourite that he ended up staying for four years. Since his character left the village to become a party planner, Belfast born Gerard has popped up in award-winning TV dramas like 2013 hit The Fall, opposite Gillian Anderson and Fifty Shades stud Jamie Dornan. He's also starred in Netflix series Vikings as Brondsted and has established himself as a raved about theatre star, performing in London, New York and Los Angeles in an acclaimed production of The Merry Wives of Windsor.

I recognized Emma Rigby in "The Physician". It's a good movie to watch.
