Alex said as part of the celebrations he has been in touch with some of the old cast who have been exchanging past pictures of themselves.

"It's really weird because it's just like looking back at your university years for me, because all my holidays that I went on were with friends from Hollyoaks.

"So it's just kind of looking back at my life really, more than thinking this show is 20 years old."

Alex admitted he used to watch Hollyoaks before he was cast in the soap as Lee, but doesn't anymore.

"I always say it's a bit like watching someone with your ex girlfriend. Because you know it's going on but you don't want to sit there and watch it.

"Just in case they're doing a better job than you did."
