| Post subject: | Remembering Dom Reilly |
Arriving in Hollyoaks in 2005 after the revelation that he and "cousin" Tony were actually brothers, both found this hard to accept as first as Dom used to bully Tony and there was a bit of resentment on both sides. After Mandy Richardson and Tony's baby, Grace dies from SIDS Dom comforts Mandy in her grief, the two develop feelings for one another at one point discussing running away together. Mandy and Tony split up but Mandy stays on friendly terms with Dom Dom meets Tina McQueen they bond over their love of classic literature. Carmel and Michaela McQueen hear Dom talking to "Cathy" on the phone, a term of endearment Dom used to call Tina in reference to Cathy from Wuthering Heights, and assume he is having an affair with Kathy Barnes. Eventually Dom and Tina decide to marry but she then discovers his past feelings for Mandy prompting her to call off the wedding and dump Dom, after some deliberation and explaining from Dom the two marry Cracks appear in Dom and Tina's marriage and she sleeps with Russ Owen after feeling neglected by Dom, at that time Dom finds out Tina is going to be a surrogate for Tony and Jacqui McQueen, later, Dom tries to convince Tina to have an abortion but accepts her decision. In July 2008 Tina gives birth to Max McQueen and admits Russ is the father, this causes Dom and Tina to split up again. Tensions are rife as Dom and Tina continue on with their lives, however, Niall Rafferty kidnaps the McQueen family and holds them hostage in an abandoned church after it's revealed he is Myra's son whom she gave up for adoption when he was born, when Niall sets a bomb off in the church Tina is fatally wounded, she is found by Dom and they reconcile and declare their love to one another before Tina dies Dom is heartbroken but has Tony to help him through his grief, some time later he meets poledancer Loretta Jones, things seem to be going ok until Dom asks Loretta to choose between him and her job. Dom goes into partnership with Ravi Roy opening up the diner, Relish as well as becoming a PCSO Tony tells Dom he is having financial trouble, Dom vows to help his brother and on Guy Fawkes Night 2010 ll Gnosh goes up in flames causing the deaths of Steph Roach and Mal Fisher, set alight by Dom. Dom strikes up a plutonic friendship with Amber Sharpe, seeing a lot of Tina in her, however,Tony is concerned when he finds a picture of Amber on Dom's phone and accuses him of being the baby's father, Dom protests his innocent saying he would never do a thing like that. Ste Hay tells Dom he believes Brendan Brady set fire to ll Gnosh, Brendan threatens Dom who then reveals it was him that set ll Gnosh on fire. He resigns to tell Tony he set the fire and tells his brother he did it to destroy a laptop that, according to Bart McQueen, had pictures of Amber on it. Tony tries to convince Dom to go to the police but Dom begs him to let him just slip away unnoticed from Hollyoaks, Tony tells him he can't do that and eventually Dom, himself, rings the police and says his goodbyes to Tony. The police arrive and arrest Dom and take him away What did you think of Dom's character? What did you think of his exit? |

Another character they didn't use to their best imo. I loved Doms character even though he was the weird quiet type of guy with his head in a book. So angry when they changed his character Dom would have never set Il Gnosh on fire and I still don't believe his character did. They could easily say it was Warren lol. Come to think of it Warren and Dom could both be inside together with Silas! lol Would love to see Dom return and go down a dark path, maybe team him up with Mandy again and do what they intended to do with Mandy but with the two of them it would be alot better. Doms reason could be because Tony hasn't visited him inside and he blames him for what happened maybe they could have Mandy under Doms spell or Dom under Mandys or something. The whole Amber thing was just wrong, Bart is a complete idiot for doing that to Dom. Liked him with Tina but liked him better with Loretta before they changed her character. ![]() ![]() At Tony wedding ![]() With Tina RIP ![]() Chatting to Cindys mate who I think was called Savanna? ![]() Toy fight with Steph, love this pic. ![]() During the find Holly campaign which Tony spent most of his cash funding. ![]() With Loretta ![]() Watching the pole dancer practice ![]()

Dom was a great character, and, like you say, unbelievably underused...a HO stalwart and a real community member with his businesses, his role as a PCSO, his hunt for Holly campaign and many other village activities When personality transplant order was rife(under Marquess' reign) Dom went from mild mannered, good natured sensible nice guy to arson commiting criminal...really annoyed me as Dom would never do a thing like that, they ruined his character completely. If Dom came back I'd like to see him still a nice guy but to see how prison affected him maybe he was bullied inside Still Dom had a lengthy tenure on the show and definately made his mark and has left many memories of his businesses and community spirit |

I think after a spending time inside he would never be the original Dom we know and loved on the show. I would imagine he would have some hatred inside and would direct that towards someone. I would want him to come back and make an impact rather than just sit as a background character. I think for the actor to comeback he would want a decent SL to make his comeback memorable/worth while. Maybe he could come back with some "connections" or maybe he could comeback good with a shady business partner who he won't hear a bad word against him but we don't know why. Maybe he could come back after being molded by the one and only Silas Blissett! They both liked chess lol maybe they played it together inside! |

I would have it ruined in a week lol. Would soon get the axe. The LA era would be good in comparison I would bring back so many dead people in one week the show would have gone back in time rofl. |

Lol, if you did that I'd be watching!!! And after you gave me a job I would bring back more too, there must be tons of actors who were in HO that would want to go back...Dom would be a prime example I think It's a shame Hollyoaks hasn't done a reunion thing like Home and Away and Neighbours have done with loads of old characters coming back for a week for some reason...that would bring in a lot of viewers who have only a casual interest now or people who have stopped watching all together |

Yeah every halloween we could have a huge resurrection week lol. It always comes down to bad timing I think. The popular ones have all moved on and have new projects. TGTBTG show was great so I am hoping for a TGTBTG 2 at some point. I would also welcome a Hollyoaks Musical type of thing as many of the oakers past and present love to sing/dance etc. The guy who plays Dom has done a few things since leaving he was in same time next year with Clare Buckfield (sister of Julie who played Julie Tonys gf in oaks) which is a play and some other play I can't remember. I think for John to come back he would need decent material to work with, he left in the 1st place because he wasn't used much which was a shame. |

Did he? I thought Dom was axed by Marquess along with the 15 other characters he axed....I can't blame John for leaving if what you said is the case, Dom's material was only average after Tina's death and he kind of fell into a background character seen in Relish or in The Dog with a pint, lol |

I think he said recently something like when your washing plates in the background you know its time to go. Maybe he was axed I don't recall for certain but I think either way he knew his time was coming to an end sadly. |
