Gemma Merna (Carmel McQueen) has been nominated for best newcomer. She is due to go up against Coronation Street's Kim Ryder, Eastender's Jo Joyner and Emmerdale's Joseph Gilgun. Does Gemma expect to win? "I'll just have to see what happens there's some great competition but I'm just going to enjoy the night and look forward to my clip being shown."

James Sutton (JohnPaul McQueen) is up for the Best Actor Award and said:"I was a little surprised when I found out and although I don't expect too much it's good to be nominated. I try not to read too much into these things and just enjoy the night." James goes up against Coronation Street's Antony Cotton, Eastender's Charlie Clements and Dr Who's David Tennant. "I don't feel too nervous about the actual night it's always something different and enjoyable to go to the formal occasions and I enjoy the after party."

I think Gemma Merna should win best newcomer. She's a fantastic comedic actress, but can also do really meaningful and emotional scenes. She really brings something to Hollyoaks.

I'd love for James Sutton to get the Best Actor award, his scenes with Craig this year, the emotion he put into them was superb. He's a fantastic actor and having these two up for awards, really does give Hollyoaks some leverage at the awards. Hopefully they win.
