Max and Steph's relationship blossoms this week as they're both excited about this new romance. We spoke to Matt Littler (Max) about some of the upcoming twists and turns of Max and Steph's relationship.
DRAMA
Max and Steph kiss for the first time in tonight's HOLLYOAKS on Channel 4. But their romance certainly doesn't end there! Matt Littler (who plays Max) reveals what's in store for Max and his new fame-seeking, drama queen girlfriend Stephanie De La Dean in this exclusive interview.
HERRING
Rumours have been rife on the HOLLYOAKS forum that Steph will cause a rift between HOLLYOAKS' favourite double act Max and OB. We asked Matt (Max) if he thinks this could happen: "I think that's a bit of a red herring, I don't think that's what will happen. Well, I hope that's not how it's all going to end! "Max and OB will always be Max and OB, Steph won't come between their friendship or take OB's place in Max's life. You can have a mate and a girlfriend at the same time – it is allowed!"
EVOLVE
However, Matt was slightly more reluctant to reveal what will happen between Max and Steph in the long run: "Well their relationship just goes on. It will evolve to a level where the next step needs to occur, and then it will be what it will be. I don't want to say any more than that," he said.
RIVALRY
"There's a karaoke competition coming up with a character called Summer who's arrived on the show," Matt added. "There's a bit of rivalry between Steph and Summer because Summer can sing and Steph wants to sing, which is the nicest way of saying it! It's the first time he sees Steph being a bit of a bitch."
BITCHY
But hasn't Max had enough of bitchy women after being married to Clare? Matt says: "Max takes it on the chin and just thinks oh that's part of her personality – you love the good, you love the bad sort of thing. He asserts himself well with her, and I think he deals with it in a really nice way."
