I think some of the storylines in the past few months would have made a great late night special... for example, Craig and John Paul or the Claire exit story.
Who thinks that they should start making late night specials again?
I know Bryan Kirkwood said he would rather concentrate on the regular show right not but do you think that is the right decision?

I personally would love to see more late night episodes, but I think Kirkwood has made the right decision. I'd presume a majority of Hollyoaks viewers are early-mid teens (11-16) - so keeping the show on at an early time, focusing on all the storylines, may be better for ratings.
On the other hand, alot of the storylines, as you said could do with a bit more 'edge' as it were. - One of the things that really gets to me about soaps, is that nobody ever swears. Now, I'm not a huge swearer, but I swear; especially when I'm in a rage. I don't like these people arguing, fighting, dealing with things & only having one "angry" emotion or reaction.
Late night episodes could really, really help to progress storylines & give a new edge to something we all love, however; I think "putting them on hiatus" for now, could be doing Hollyoaks more good, than bad.

I think it would be good to see then back on again!
But I don't if it will get as many views as the 6.30 ones!
But yeah...
Idk.

Hollyoaks is doing really good at the mo, and they don't need late night specials.

Since I wrote that almost two months ago, Bryan Kirkwood has announced that it might be time to start bringing back the late night specials.
He has suggested that he might make a late night special featuring the entire McQueen family but it hasn't been confirmed yet.

I would actually like that to happen!
It'd be cool to watch!
I hope he does!

I really liked the late night specials, even if some were a bit racy.
I think one on the McQueens would be great to watch.

What I loved about the late night specials was that they were spontaneous. I think making a series of them will take the magic away from them. I'd love for them to do one of the week ones about Niall and the McQueen revenge as if it is on after the watershed they have the ability to make them darker rather than have to stick to the rules.
The only problem is that the late night ones are connected with the 6:30pm ones so they can't put the two completely together as there will be a lot of people who can't watch them due to parental restrictions, time they are on etc. When Luke was raped the storylines connected but you didn't have to watch the late night ones to know what had happened.
I hope to see them again soon but not for them to be essential viewing for the people who are unable to watch x

I watched a few of the late night specials, but to be honest I found them just an excuse for Lisa Hunter to be the [censored] we knew she was in the earlier shows.... and Ruth Osbourne too.
If there was a point to it other than sex, like the Luke being raped story then I would probably watch more late night specials.
But guidelines have changed in the past and you can show a heck of a lot more now before the watershed.
I always found the late night specials to be generally just to get sex on screen.
